Welcome to GrandParents United DE, Inc.

We are a local advocacy and support group serving grandparents throughout the state. We have designed our site in an effort to join together Delaware’s Grandparents & Kinship Caregivers, who are raising a relative child. In addition to grandparents we also recognize other relative caregivers who face many of the same challenges. Our local organization has a chapter in each county and leaders who are dedicated to help each caregiver through, support groups, workshops, and a clothes closet, online support group. Our leaders help direct you to all the services that are currently available. We continue to lobby for expanded financial assistance for caregivers and for resources outside the foster care system. We have accomplished much but there is still a lot of work to be done.

Our Mission

Is to care for the children who are related to our families and whom have already been deemed at risk by our Family Courts. Many are due to abuse, neglect or have been abandoned by parents who are unable or unwilling to provide a healthy atmosphere to nurture these children. We also work with caregivers of children who may be in care due to incarceration or death of a parent and or parents.

Our Goals

§ To provide safe secure homes for our relative children who have suffered the trauma of being abused and or neglected by their parents or others who have responsibility for their care.

§ To protect our at risk relative children from being placed in foster care without family ties.

§ To promote awareness of the resources and requirements of all relative caregivers who assume the responsibility for the care of these children.

§ To provide support and help navigate all kinship caregivers through what can be a complicated system and to continue supporting these families to ensure the best possible outcome for the children in care as well as each caregiver.
